Keep Going: A Letter to Parents About the Hard Seasons

By Michael Young, founder · Published

To my fellow MyEverheart Members,

Some days, being a parent feels like holding two things at once: the deep love you have for your kids, and the sheer exhaustion of trying to get everything right for them. There will be seasons when you're building something new, holding a family together, or just trying to make it through a hard week, and the weight can show up exactly when you feel least ready for it.

Those moments can make you doubt yourself. They can make you wonder if you're doing enough, if you're strong enough, if it would be easier to just stop trying so hard.

I want you to remember this: a hard season doesn't mean you're failing your kids. Sometimes it's simply the part of the path that comes before the next right step, and your kids will remember far more about how you kept going than about the days that felt perfect.

The Messy Middle Is Where Your Kids Learn Strength

It's easy to look at other families and see only the highlight reel: the smiling photos, the smooth mornings, the moments where everything looks like it's working. But every family's real story has a messy middle. There are quiet worries, late nights, second-guessing, and plans that fall apart before the next step becomes clear.

Here's what's easy to miss in the middle of it: your kids are watching. Not the version of you with all the answers, but the version of you who keeps showing up anyway. That's what they'll carry with them. Not that you never struggled, but that struggling didn't stop you from loving them well.

What "Heart" Means at MyEverheart

At MyEverheart, when we talk about heart, we mean something real: love, faith, perseverance, and the courage to keep showing up for your family even when it's hard.

Building something meaningful, whether it's a family, a home, or a community, takes patience and sacrifice. There have been times quitting would have been easier. We kept going because of what matters most: God, family, the people we serve, and the hope that what we're building helps someone feel loved and remembered.

What to Remember on the Hard Days

You don't need every answer today. Some days, the bravest thing you can do as a parent is take the next small step with a steady heart:

  • Take one small step. You don't have to fix everything today, just the next right thing in front of you.
  • Let people help you. Strength doesn't mean carrying it all alone. Let the people who love you and your kids stand beside you.
  • Rest without guilt. Pausing isn't weakness. It's what lets you keep showing up for the people who need you most.
  • Hold on to your why. On the hardest days, come back to what matters most, and let that love guide your next step.

Keep Going

Wherever you are right now, proud of a small win, tired from a hard day, or unsure what comes next, take a breath. This moment isn't the whole story of your parenting. It's one chapter.

Keep going. Keep showing up. Keep your heart open. You are loved, you are capable, and your kids are lucky to have someone who keeps trying, even on the hard days. Remember why you're doing this: for your faith, your family, and the person you're raising them to become.

From the Heart….
