Keep Going: A Note on Overcoming Hard Times to share with your kids
By Michael Young, founder · Published

Let’s be honest: life doesn’t always hand you a clean, easy path. Whether you’re pouring your energy into building a new business, trying to keep a project afloat, or just dealing with the heavy weight of a tough week, obstacles have a way of showing up right when you least expect them.
It’s exhausting. It makes you doubt yourself. And there are days when the easiest option looks like simply walking away.
But here is what I’ve learned: setbacks aren't a sign that you're on the wrong path. Usually, they're just proof that you're pushing towards something that actually matters.
The Messy Reality of Building Anything Real
We tend to see everyone else’s highlight reel: the smooth launches, the wins, the moments where everything clicks. We don’t see the messy middle. We don't see the late nights, the second-guessing, or the plans that completely fell apart before something finally clicked.
When you hit a wall, it’s frustrating. It stalls your momentum. But that friction is actually where your resilience gets built. You don't grow when things are comfortable; you grow when you're forced to figure out a way around, under, or straight through a problem.
What Drives Us at MyEverheart?
At MyEverheart, we talk a lot about heart, and that’s not just a marketing catchphrase. It comes from real experience.
Building something meaningful takes a piece of you. It requires showing up even when you don't have all the answers and trusting yourself when the outcome is definitely uncertain. Every bit of progress we've ever made came on the other side of a moment where it would have been much easier to quit. We are motivated to keep pushing forward by God, family and our members.
How to Get Through the Heavy Days
When everything feels like an uphill climb, big motivational speeches don't help much. You just need practical ways to put one foot in the front of the other:
- Shrink the target: Forget about fixing the whole mountain today. Just focus on the very next right step you can take before lunch.
- Don't try to carry it alone: Trying to do everything by yourself is a fast track to burnout. Lean on the people in your corner, the ones who collaborate, share the load, and believe in what you're doing.
- Give yourself permission to pause: Pushing until you break doesn't help anyone. Step away, reset, and remember that taking care of your own well-being is part of the work.
- Remember why you started: When the day-to-day grind wears you down, strip away the noise and remember the core reason you cared about this in the first place.
Keep Going
Wherever you are right now, whether you're celebrating a small win or trying to pick yourself up after a tough loss, take a breath. This is just a chapter in the story, not the final page.
Keep pushing. Keep showing up. And keep your heart in it.
Message from the heart...
